These great strings are what we use on all the new Huber Banjos (and all other banjos for that matter). Sold as a pack of six.
The gauge is perfect for great tone – not too light and not too heavy. The stainless steel wound 4th will bring out the “growl” in any banjo.
These strings are made of the highest quality steel, with a stainless steel wound 4th string, all loop ends.

Hi my name is John Johnson and I own 3 banjos one is a Gibson RB 250 and one is a 1927 Gibson Bella Voce and one is a Huber VRB-3 TrueTone which is the one I use mostly on stage (I play in a band called Calvary’s Path). I always use Huber strings. I just had my VRB-3 re-fretted and the luthier installed some “generic” banjo strings. When I got home I noticed something different in the sound… something was missing. I immediately changed out the strings to a Huber set and the clarity of tone returned. They are a perfect match for any banjo, especially a high quality banjo such as a Huber.

I really like these strings. They make my two Huber banjos (VRB-4, VRB-G) sound great. I have tried a bunch of strings and these are the best. I also have Huber straps on both banjos as they are comfortable, fit in the cases well, and hold the banjos without metal parts touching the instruments. I would recommend them as well.

Steve’s Truetone strings are the best I’ve used in some 60 years of playing. The highs are brilliant and the lows can really growl, holding their own An old comment that your fingers can be in the resonator, feeling all the notes, relates to using Steve’s strings.

Not the typical review you’ll read here… I just restored an abused and neglected el-cheapo banjo that I can begin music lessons with (age 61). Not knowingly playing a single note since elementary school, I have a lot to learn!
After watching countless how-to videos on YouTube, mounting a new Huber head and strings was so gratifying. The strings were packaged so nicely with each string in a numbered envelope. As this is the first time I’ve ever ordered or installed strings on a musical instrument, I can’t compare the quality to the competition. However, I was drawn to Huber Banjos though much research. While the reviews are stellar, I’m captivated through the down to earth explanations throughout the website. I especially like the way the customer is empowered to start with a standard model banjo, then mix-and-match features until they have one that meets their personal tastes. I hope configuring my own Huber banjo is phase 2 for my pursuit!
