The Sammy Shelor Model

Steve Huber is delighted to offer the Sammy Shelor model in the Huber Banjos family.

The new Sammy Shelor model is a faithful reproduction of Sammy's pre-war model 75. The custom wide neck is manufactured to Sammy's exact specifications from select mahogany and boasts a distinctive inlay pattern found on Sammy's 75. The Shelor model has the responsiveness and tone of the prized mahogany banjos of the 1930's and the playability that serious professionals demand.

Few banjo pickers in the bluegrass world can match Sammy Shelor when it comes to tone, timing, and impeccable taste. He is a multiple recipient of the coveted Banjo Player Of The Year award from the International Bluegrass Music Association and his many years of recording and performing with the Lonesome River Band have cemented his reputation as a bluegrass picker with very few peers.

Sammy had the opportunity to pick one of the very first Huber prototypes at the Roanoke Bluegrass Weekend in November of 2000. He was so immediately impressed with the sound of this new banjo that he became an endorser of the Huber banjo line. He subsequently commissioned Steve to reproduce the same banjo that Sammy has played for so many years. Now you can play this exact replica of Sammy's pre-war model 75.

What does Sammy have to say about the new Shelor model?

"The new Huber 'SS' model is without a doubt the best banjo I have ever played without 65 years of age on it. I looks, plays, and sounds like my original 75. It kills!"

Sammy is excited about this opportunity to spread the word about Steve's banjos, especially the new 'SS' model. He wants to help make it easier for pickers to get a close look and listen to these superb instruments.

Get a chance to see, hear, and play the new Shelor Model Huber Banjo at any Lonesome River Band show. Check their performance schedule to find out when they will be in your part of the world.
