Steve does his own gold & triple gold plating and went to great lengths to match his gold to the look of the old "Granada" gold. In the 30's, Gibson would triple or even quadruple plate the higher end gold plated banjos. Huber banjos offers this triple gold plating - three times the amount of gold applied to each part - to anyone who needs metal parts gold plated.

Nickel Plating

Steve also does his own nickel plating. This is the only place we know of where you can get the "Old Style" nickel plating. In the 1930's the nickel baths did not add a brightener like they do today and the plated parts had to be buffed to get them to shine. If you look on the bottom of an old armrest for instance, you will see the dull UN-buffed plating. This is what Steve calls the "Old Style" nickel plate.

At this time, we can only plate nickel over brass - we have no facilty for stripping nickel before replating.
